Section 5: Range Safety Rules

Safety is the absolute top priority at all times. Unsafe behavior will result in immediate removal from the range.

1.    Always keep arrows pointed downrange or toward the ground. Never point an arrow at any person, animal, or unintended target.

2.    Never nock an arrow until you are on the shooting line and the range has been confirmed clear.

3.    Never draw a bow unless you are on the shooting line, aimed at a designated target, and the range is confirmed clear.

4.    Never dry-fire a bow (draw and release the string without an arrow nocked). Dry-firing can cause catastrophic equipment failure and serious injury.

5.    All shooters must ensure a clear field of fire before releasing any arrow. Know your target and what is beyond it at all times.

6.    When retrieving arrows, all shooters must cease shooting. No person may shoot while anyone is downrange of the shooting line.

7.    The verbal command "CLEAR" must be called before anyone proceeds downrange. The confirmation "ALL CLEAR" must be received and acknowledged by all shooters before shooting resumes.

8.    If you hear "HOLD" or "CEASE FIRE" at any time, you must immediately:

     Stop shooting;

     Un-nock your arrow;

     Step back from the shooting line; and

     Wait for further instruction.

9.    Children under 16 years of age must be directly supervised by a responsible adult member at all times while anywhere on the range or course.

10.    No running on or near the range at any time.

11.    Eye protection is recommended for all participants. Arm guards and finger tabs or shooting gloves are strongly recommended.

Section 6: Course Rules

1.    The field course is a walk-through experience. All participants must follow the marked trail and shoot only at designated target stations.

2.    Shoot only from the designated shooting stakes or positions at each station. Do not create improvised shooting positions.

3.    Do not advance to the next station until all arrows have been retrieved and all members of your group are ready to proceed.

4.    Maximum group size on the course is 6 shooters.

5.    Maintain awareness of other groups on the course at all times. Do not crowd, rush, or pressure the group ahead of you. Allow adequate spacing between groups.

6.    Stay on designated trails at all times. Do not shortcut, bushwhack, or cross between stations off-trail.

7.    Report any damaged targets, unsafe conditions, wildlife hazards, fallen trees, or trail obstructions to management immediately.

8.    The course may be closed during inclement weather, poor visibility, or other hazardous conditions at management's sole discretion.
